نہ تو زمیں کے لیے ہے نہ آسماں کے لیے
جہاں ہے تیرے لیے تو نہیں جہاں کے لیے
You are neither for earth nor for heaven's light,
The world is yours, not you for its sight.
یہ عقل و دل ہیں شرر شعلۂ محبت کے
وہ خار و خس کے لیے ہے یہ نیستاں کے لیے
Reason and heart, sparks of love's flame,
One burns straw, one field of reed's shame.
مقام پرورش آہ و نالہ ہے یہ چمن
نہ سیر گل کے لیے ہے نہ آشیاں کے لیے
This garden is for mournful strains,
No place for nests or rose petal gains.
رہے گا راوی و نیل و فرات میں کب تک
ترا سفینہ کہ ہے بحر بیکراں کے لیے
How long shall your ship float in Ravi, Nile, and Euphrates flow?
When the Ocean calls, no boundaries to know.
نشان راہ دکھاتے تھے جو ستاروں کو
ترس گئے ہیں کسی مرد راہ داں کے لیے
Once guides to stars, now lost in the dark,
Seeking a leader to leave their mark.
نگہ بلند سخن دل نواز جاں پرسوز
یہی ہے رخت سفر میر کارواں کے لیے
Ambition, speech, and soul aflame,
These are the only tools for a leader's game.
ذرا سی بات تھی اندیشۂ عجم نے اسے
بڑھا دیا ہے فقط زیب داستاں کے لیے
A simple truth, the Persian mind did find,
Transformed with imagination, a poetic bind.
